Many foreigners want to dump money into the U.S. because other countries economic and civil unrest poses high systemic risk to their capital. 

I was taking a drive one day and noticed an abandoned home that is in pretty rough shape but I am a do it your self type guy so it sparked my interest.

There are foreign investors who will pay stupid money just to get funds over here as they are not confident in their local government for economic and civil unrest.
