Current construction practices are very antiquated. 

Carpet over plywood subfloor, on the other hand, could have some real damage if a pet repeatedly urinates on the floor...antique hardwood floors can get really scratched by a large, active dog....antique single pane glass windows could easily be broken by a large dog... 

In Riverside and San Berdo counties there are millions of platted lots.. and each little area around CA will have antiquated subdivisions of legal lots of record which now a days are not buildable because of utl issues IE septic or water.

I post ads on Craigslist to buy clubs and you'd be surprised how many people have nice sets in their basement or antiques of relatives that they've never wanted but didn't want to throw away.
