@Joel RiveraRecommend exploring as many sources as possible to get referrals AND cross-reference them to get as much accurate information as possible.Check out NARPM.com, BP’s Property Manager Finder (BiggerPockets: The Real Estate Investing Social Network), etc.Also, encourage you to learn from the mistakes of others - by reading posts here on BiggerPockets about owners not having their expectations met by their current Property Management Company.

You need to market yourself on social media, you need to direct-mail (and have an effective strategy because everyone is direct mailing), driving for dollars, hunting on MLS, cold calling (skiptrace), going to the REI meetups and connecting, meeting with realtors, talking with wholesalers (and letting them know you're not a tire kicker), etc.

The issue is I've lived in cities my whole life and feed off social life, something I'm already concerned with having when I'm working remotely.I'm currently eyeing cities like Chicago and NYC, the latter of which I have not lived in and have been doing some digging on.

I simply shook my head.Unfortunately social media has made it easy for these bad actors to get in front of their target clientele and it's normally the  clients who have no liquidity, poor credit and very low chances for success to begin with in this business and put these courses/mentorship on their credit cards who fall even further behind.
