I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area and my FIRE number isn't $15k a month (with kid costs it is but I wouldn't be retiring early/quitting W2 job with child costs).I don't have much feedback on Michigan but I do agree with affordability with California and Florida and insurance costs, people may be moving to the Midwest. 

Explore furnishing it as a medium term rental maybe.

I have a 5-year-old, so here goes:Wholesaling is like finding toys that other kids don’t want anymore, showing someone else where to get those toys, and then asking for a finder’s fee in gummy bears.

Have you and your wife considered exploring fully turnkey properties as an option?
