New Student of Real Estate Investment

Ariel Betancourt
Posted

Hello everyone! This for me feels like a big leap in my life. Admitting to myself and to others that real estate investing is something that I want to pursue with everything I have is a big first step for me. I have no investment experience, only stock market and IRA's, but I hope to learn a lot from professionals on this forum. My family and I are originally from Cuba. We have resided in Miami for 12 years. I am currently 21 years old and was recently hired with my dream job in Sarasota County (I saw that Sarasota wasn't an option so I picked the closest.) I am hungry for knowledge, and hope to learn as much as possible before my first investment. Thank you!!

Quote from @Kiernan LaFaver:

You've definitely come to the right place. Something I would recommend from experience working with people is to figure out your ideal niche and stick to that, at least just starting out. Ie// fix and flip, single family vs. multifamily, etc. It can be very easy to get tangled down in the weeds of all the different strategies. Is there a friend, family member, or colleague that has real estate investing experience? Having a solid mentor that can show you the ropes and quicken your learning can be invaluable. Always happy to chat if you ever have any questions. Good luck!

Thank you so much Kiernan! I really appreciate the advice. I have concepts that I hope to expand on, strategies that stick out to me when reading and podcast so far are buy and hold properties, the BRRRR method, and house hacking. I do not have any friends or relatives in the real estate world, but that won't stop me from learning everything I can as fast as I can! I will try to find a solid mentor as soon as possible. Thank you for the reply!!
