I am currently trying to save as much money as I can at the moment as I am still in school and doing internships in which the money I get is going straight to saving for the first property.  

The connections you will make at school and summer internships are priceless.

Imagine for a moment that you had an opportunity to travel anywhere in the world to take a six to twenty week internship position.

I have been saving up money from my internships and should have a descent amount of cash available for a down payment.

It was a nontraditional route for sure because my friends were securing internships while I was out looking for ugly houses to carpet/paint for a profit.

I've done free internships before and I look at it as no different, offering valuable services for a company or investor in return of a risk free (besides time) learning experience.
