I was trying so hard to decrease my tax bill for 2022 that I lost sight of how much the SE tax would hurt me in the long run as the STR turns a profit which it already is.

It is close to Coe College which could be a draw for students to rent, but I've heard that SE Cedar Rapids can be tricky at times.Does anyone invest in this area or have any thoughts on this area of Cedar Rapids?

I have friend and community that is originally originated in SE Asia but due to mobility of Tech Engineering they can purchase condo in Singapore, Dubai and now Zurich.

We live in the Beaverton/Portland area so it would be much closer than any of the midwest or SE markets.

The ones who are gonna sue you are gonna sue you even IF you have the coverage - they just se the MP as bonus money. 

Then add in the TOT taxes, which go to the State and City and will build roads, schools, etc.Anyone opposed to STRs is clearly not thinking it through....I don't think it's opposition to STRs per se, any more than opposition to McDonald's, a tanning salon, or a beef packing plant. 

The original cost is erased per se.

I will echo some of the sentiments here about the SE, but I would stick to some of the secondary and tertiary markets.

What profit level do you recommend one converts to an S-Corp from schedule C, which is 100% subject to SE?
