With the internet, you can get 85% of the way there using resources like google maps, crime maps, etc. 

One you have easy access and can visit often. 100% remote is a unicorn, REI is not passive, no matter what someone on the internet will tell you.

You also want it out on the internet getting exposure in as many websites as possible - which basically means getting it into the MLS.

Asking a bunch of random strangers on the internet is a great way to attract creepers. :)
