I have heard about a lot of Chinese, Japanese and Middle eastern foreign nationals investing in US real estate.

Used to could be a cube-dwelling mutual fund trader.

My wife is Japanese and in fact I will be going back again this April.  

I was hoping to get any opinions about it before i do. i keep searching about various legal topics relating to japanese real estate and business structure.  

Would his company qualify as a real property trader business and him as a real estate professional? 

I trade rent for 12 hours of handyman services per week-- but I wouldn't do that until you find a really trustworthy handy person.

@Anita Anand this doesn’t necessarily apply directly to real estate but as an old stock trader we used to say “do buy into anything you wouldn’t mind holding forever if you had to”.
