Initially, our realtor said he would make it up to us by reimbursing us from his commission, and now he said he would bring down his percentage when he “sells” our home at the end of the year.

I have followed Airbnb's process on filing a claim for reimbursement through Aircover, but it has now been 3 weeks and nothing has been done.

It's not common, but it does occur.However, a title insurance policy, w/o exception for the other mortgages, should at least reimburse the insured for a covered loss. 

If a tenant submitted a Security Deposit or Utility reimbursement and that was reported as income to the property owner not sure how that would be handled.

The tenant comes back he can reimburse you as he already agreed to pay in front of the repairman.

Be expecting a time lag as you are dealing with the government between the time that  you call for the draw and then the inspection and then the reimbursement.

Reimburse them.
