I remember the first year of ever renting out homes, I was so nervous about offending someone or putting them off that I bent over backwards to try and accommodate their schedules and make sure they had ample time to see the house without them feeling rushed from someone else coming in to look at the place..

When I take over a building that is underrented I usually tell the tenant(s) something along the lines that market rent for the unit is $X and I'd be happy to let you stay for something close to that (usually about 90-95% of $X), but if that doesn't work I understand I'll need to find a new tenant and will do my best to accommodate your move schedule.
