I'm currently working on quite a bit right now but would like to create a plan with a real path to purchasing my first STR in 12 months.So for you experienced players out there, what you say to me (STR newbie) if i said i want to build a few STRs in different markets for my family and me to visit as awesome vacay destinations?

Just in general, I think Crested Butte has been discovered and is going to continue to be a destination for people coming to Colorado.

Walk on the boardwalk, or drive around the city - and you’ll see (and feel) that much has to be done, before it becomes a true destination place. 

There is still room to run as it is becoming a destination town for all of Monmouth County to visit.  

But it got me in the game and they’re in great areas🙏That being said, this year I really would like to purchase a vacation home / STR in a touristic place like a Pigeon Forge, Broken Bow, Destin, etc. 

We aren’t really a honeymoon destination so we don’t have many 1 beds or A-frames. 3 bed can be the best bang for your buck in terms of cost sq/Ft, but it’s also the most competitive.

I see alot of promotion of STR and MTR; but, when I ran numbers using the sites as I mentioned in #1 it seems many are vacant 40-60% of time in key touristy destinations in Florida and Texas.

EXCELLENT WoRKno doubt the location of where you are or where your rentals are most definatly helps especislly if your in or near a tourist destination.

My first recommendation would be to research the rules and regulations on vacation rental usages of less than 30 nights in your personal favorite destinations.

Destin, 30A area seems to still be brining in good returns even with the rising prices of real estate.
