We chucked the appliances where their nest was (dishwasher) treated twice (both the infected unit and an additional unit not infected but just to be safe) and within a month they were gone.

I would also let them know you will cancel the lease to save them from being subjected to whatever is really bothering them.Only concern is they might hit you with some medical bills saying one of them has a lung infection, feeling eye irritation, coughing, shortness of breath, and asthma symptoms and holding you responsible, hoping you will write a fat check in exchange for some sort of hold harmless papers.

It's just this one bad section 8 tenant and a ghetto landlord that is part of the problem. well back to the house sitter.. move out if rent is 3k a month get someone in for 1k a month as a house sitter. no place is immune that's for sure..

So, I can ask for doctors note, immunization records, ensure the animal performs a function the tenant can’t do on their own, professional training, etc?

Maybe I'm just reading into the bill more than I should, but this seems like a major overstep that could cost landlords thousands of dollars when the issue is most often caused by a tenant bringing in an infected item.
