It sounds like from your post your relationship did evolve to a bigger level than a normal coaching mentor relationship.

As the world evolves, people will be exposed to many new ideas from many different sources (as they are on BiggerPockets in the domain of real estate).

My focus evolved into full time residential real estate as my flipping & wholesaling business grew.  

The space is also growing and evolving, so I expect crowd funding sites to become more robust over time as the industry grows especially as those key quality metrics become a well known standard to achieve.Title 3 starts this year which is going to be very turbulent at first, but it will really stretch the capability of the portals to manage a higher volume of investors.

This is a topic I weigh constantly and adjust strategy as our market evolves.
