Most of my experience is with high end metal wall panel cladding/exterior envelope in the past 10 years but like I said I have built one GU in the last 2 years. 

You'd have to re-wire the house, so each meter has its own breaker panel and those breakers supply the correct rooms in the house.

Guess the Tesla EV has been commoditized but not yet for Solar panels.

It is a panel discussion about house hacking so I assume there is a very good chance someone there will have used a 203k loan before.

Underground power lines should be buried in Schedule 40 PVC pipe, at the minimum depth required (18” here, or 24” bare), never just running along the ground, there should never be bare wire exposed and anything above grade needs to be run overhead or in Schedule 80 (usually just used for the short length where the line comes out of the ground and goes to the main service panel/ meter). 

My house was broken into 6 times, stolen materials, tools, pipes, water tanks, panels, even meter boxes. 

Another option is panelized since you would be replicating the same product, same foundation, same floor system, same truss system.  

Lots of old garages in Maine have little to no foundation, making them a difficult shell to build up.I attended a Portland panel discussion about ADUs in Maine.  

I should have also included that a new electrical panel will need to be put in and the current one looks like https://inspectapedia.com/electric/Fuse_Panel510-D... and the wiring is a thick copper wiring wrapped in a fabric or cloth exterior.
