In both instances, they paid me back on schedule, but neither seems to have learned the intended lesson that came with the loan and experience.If you do it, see it as an act of kindness to help out a friend and do not have high expectations for long-term behavioural change ... be delighted if it happens, but not disappointed if it does not occur.

If they did not pay on time and were irresponsible it was your responsibility to correct that behaviour not tolerate it.Did you advise them the first time they paid late that it would not be tolerated, when they paid late a second time did you serve them a eviction notice.
