The process is fairly smooth in terms of actually bidding online, but you must follow all procedures as outlined on the site for them to look at the offer.

You will need to understand the landlord-tenant laws for your jurisdiction and follow proper legal procedures for terminating an existing lease. 

I use the book on Managing Rental properties as my procedural manual basically, very very helpful. 

But as Richard said, use caution since the DoD has been changing a lot with respect to our TDY pay and procedures in the recent years.

It's also possible to have your taxes re-assessed in some instances; you'll need to look into local procedures, obviously.

Just make sure you take all of the legal procedures and see if it works because you have logical reasons so go for it.
