The council should do a better job listening to the good housing providers that come in and try and explain the downside to their poor decisions, but they don't seem inclined to do that. 

Over and over I hear that the return on that equity is ZERO, so I'm inclined to put it to work since that's where most of my net worth is tied up.

You might have to call a few realtors , as the newer ones are more inclined to help you.

Nor is it really that expensive, considering the protection you're getting.Having said that, I think it's a perfectly legitimate thing to say that you really don't have the time, inclination or desire to deal with all the hassles of tenants.
