I'm a Real Estate Broker in the Charlotte area, and have been a resident of Union County (SE of Charlotte) for over 16 years.

I've owned 8 units (two buildings) in SE Iowa and there was no good option for management and I had to develop my Rolodex of venders and people to help me with the properties. 

I'd recommend getting on FB and finding the group "SE Michigan STR" or something to that effect.

I don't necessarily use a Credit Score Per Se. 

There is also less risk in a home that is listed by a licensed broker, and allows people to see it before hand as opposed to an auction per se. 

I am in the Melbourne area (about an hour SE of Orlando), on one of the barrier islands.

And SE/SW which is the same thing south of Malabar.
