If your attic is small, you won't be able to fit an AC/furnace in there, and venting may have to go through basement/walls.So:1- 1 large unit is cheaper, 2 small units is better (you get better temperature control).   1 unit is around 3-5k depending on brand.  2 units is around 6-8k.
