Stuff in Houston was doubling with little rent movement.They also borrowed floating rate in order to over pay.So the market is giving them the kick in the balls you'd suspect.If you bought right, were smart about your loans, you're fine. 

Overpaying, over-projecting and using floating and or short term debt spells problems no matter what you're buying.

I think a lot of these outfits make a good deal of their funds by investing this 'float' - IRA money not invested by customers - in other debt or equity investments.  

It does but if someone has a bunch of money from their business or their job they can easily float it until re-rented.
