So it’s ok for a perspective tenant to expect a landlord/home owner, tonallow a stranger into their house but not ok for a home owner to ask who they are letting inHmmm I think I will risk losing the people who are afraid of being scammed instead of risking bodily harm or allowing someone to case my home so they can come back later and steal the appliances

LOL.The locks - maybe a compromise is in order, where you can put in a good latch for the inside - like one of those hotel type metal hooks that are more solid than a chain, so she can crack open the door to talk to someone and still be safe?

shop around for cheaper ironworks guys and get a quote. i would image they quote around $800 - $1000 for gating the 1 area between the walls. that should be in your budget and is better than framing in a cheapo lattice DIY gate.if i really wanted to splurge, i'd go with aluminum gate; around here socal many folks including me of amerasian diaspora seem to love the rich modern light silvery look and it imparts heaps of feng shui apparently; doesnt have the black metal bars jail look at all!

So this is not just drilling some new 2" Tapcon screws into the concrete blocks, last one I had done they had to remove everything to the concrete blocks themselves, then epoxy in metal fins etc...all I am saying it's involved.
