Since our residents are traveling "light" to a furnished property, their coverage only costs a few bucks per month. 

My largest concern based on the marketing package is the value add I can bring to the property, and the HOA fee's which aren't apparent in the marketing.

I have a UPS box, also capable of receiving shipments (I get an e-mail when a package has arrived, for example). 

Not sure her “design” fee or what was spent on travel. 

I suppose I could combine the two ideas and live in a basement while renting out a 2 bedroom home to a traveling agency. 

You will need to find partners, you will need to travel to where you wish to invest, you will need to understand the ins and outs of the business by being actively involved and treating it like a business and not some super passive investment.If you don't want to do that work I suggest you just put that 200k into some sort of diversified mutual fund that can make you 10+% on your money without any of the work of real estate.At the end of the day this is just my advice and I'm only a stranger on the internet.

Yes, it must be the rent prices, but also there seem to be a lot of 1 or 2 people travelers needing a small place for a short time.

Temporary work travelers etc.
