A few things we’ve been thinking about* Appreciation > Cash Flow: We care more about appreciation in a few years as long as cash-flow can cover occasional cap-ex.* Low Hands-on operation: We prefer minimal hands-on engagement.

IF you plan on going back someday, and this is the home you want to move back to, then renting it would be a good idea as long as you estimate that it will cover itself, or preferably, cash flow, which it appears that yours will at @ $2K or so per month (after expenses).

I am guessing they probably raised $15-25M from investors for the deal, so while the bank would still be covered investors would appear to collect maybe 10-20 cents on the dollar if they were to liquidate.if that's the case then I don't see buying one year really does anything unless I am missing something ?
