In Asia 30 years ago, the actual bank run happened because "the owner" is really fleeing a country with his private jet full of actual physical money (just like a drug dealer in narco movie). 

However, the reverse did happen in asia, usually the most expensive is the centrally located place in the city where there's most activity. 

Am traveling through southeast Asia with limited internet connectivity. 

Part of my retirement strategy involves travelling a lot, especially in SouthEast Asia (Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia) as the cost of living is much cheaper than the US and I enjoy the food & culture.

Overseas investors (especially the ones in Asia) are facing more than 12h time difference with the US.  

There are US banks with strong ties in Asia that does not require loan documentations. 

I would love to convert everything to zero-maintenance, high cash-flowing assets and live in a nice beach city in Spain or Asia or south of the border.
