Personally I would put that money into some self storage REIT’s like CubeSmart (CUBE) Extra Space Storage (EXR), Public Storage (PSA), Life Storage (LSI), and National Storage (NSA).They claim to be recession proof but every sector has its own hit to the bottom line in a downed economy.I have a good junk of my investment money in cubesmart and i get a respectable 3.64% dividend return on top of appreciation.

All are valid points, and at the end of the day - if you are looking into a Real Estate Investment business without the hassles of tenants, toilets and trash, then Self-Storage is hands down the most profitable sector of all Commercial Real Estate Sectors.

The biggest sectors of Philadelphia's economy are education and healthcare, so with its close proximity to both UPenn and Drexel, and an easy commute into center city; I see it as a desirable place to live, that will always have student rental demand and can cash flow reasonably from day 1(although you may need to look on the outskirts a bit).

We are debasing the value of the debt we owe to our creditors, slowing the Chinese economy (detering imports), promoting exprots and our manufacturing sector - which we desperately need and encouraging investment rather than saving.It also makes foreign direct investment in the US more attractive to overseas investors rahter than buying our debt.The dollar will likely decrease further and remain low for sometime but it will come back.
