I'm with Kristine Marie Poe on this.I'd say this is a he said/she said case for the moment.My vote is to tie up the deal you want with the principal with provisions for clear, marketable title. 

Conversely I could start selling things for Mary Kay or Amway and claim all kinds of things as business expenses to lower my AGI.I'm not trying to cheat the system, just to be tax efficient.
