They have a whole flowchart and video about using SDIRA, 401k , LLCs, Trusts, etc and what can and can't be used as what are called prohibited transactions between owners of LLCs and the IRA Generally, if you have an old 401k from past employer, you should be able to roll that over into a self directed account and use it in a way that doesn't cause problems with the prohibited transaction rules.I don't have any financial affiliation with them, and they know how to handle things that are very complex.
