I've seen many think they own it only to lose it because of judgements against the seller resulting in liens against 'their' property or the buyer was amazed they have to get a purchase mortgage years in vs a refi.

This is also through the date of the judgement...and it is not uncommon in the larger counties like Tarrant for the judgement to be 2-3 years back, so taxes will still be owed since the judgement date in many cases.

Other than that maybe Oregon has a different nomenclature for these.But agreed, you do not get off the hook for  the mortgage and a lender can still pursue a deficiency judgement against you if they do not redeem their full payoff amount by assuming the property, depending on the state.
