I understand he could have possibly received a fee for late mortgage payment (it could also not be true, he has been known to lie to me and other tenants in the building), but that is not related to our contract to this household.

Not sure what the process is in Florida, I wasn't doing the suits myself anymore when my office got that state back in the day, but with the head of household law down there, you're probably just as good sending it to a collection agency and getting it on his credit.I'll defer to someone who knows the local laws down there, though.

The actual amount is dependent on the type of tenant...if they are lower, or fixed income, they obviously cannot afford a big hit, but if they are a typical dual income household, they just tighten their belt a little.
