There are additional ways to strengthen liability issues among partners in these entities, it clearly matters who you get involved with.Since I am not an attorney, I can't speculate but seems that any bankruptcy issue would be treated as if there were ay other partnership at the federal level, that being held to the extent of interest of the peritioner.

@Danny Scott:The problem is not just in North Carolina... there seems to be uncertainties generally regarding whether or not a sub within a series LLC.. can prevail in court in a bankruptcy proceeding that looking to limit liability to the series sub for instance.

In it, Warren goes through a bunch of tax data and bankruptcy interviews and convincingly concludes that modern two-earner households tend to fall bankruptcy at a faster rate than older single-earner households because too much of their income is sunk into paying off the mortgage, the car payments, and various outsized monthly bills.

@Grayson GrzybowskiThey can, but the emotional equity people have and being blinded by this stops them from doing what in most cases is the smart thing which is to sellIf it’s a temporary loss of income bankruptcy is a smart choice but we see many people who cannot afford a home they bought and continue to hold out hope only to continue to lose the equity they had as it gets eaten up by penalties, late fees and legal fees
