I would start there because most in your shoes who want to form LLC's aren't conducting the day to day activities appropriately and that is far more advantageous to you than merely forming an LLC.

As for starting a new job, I would advise you to focus, focus, focus on the job that provides you the opportunity to invest. 

However I am not sure its the best investment strategy for someone who is just getting started.

Charleston is a great place to start, and keeping your options open is a smart move.
