There's ways to protect yourself, but it's harder than tossing up a wireless access point in your attic and charging your tenants.

You can wire up the sensors, or get wireless. it's not Wi-Fi, though you can gatelink it to be Wi-Fi.

We ended up having to pay an extra $15/month for wireless monitoring of our home security system because Ooma isn't compatible with our security system.

We use Total Wireless on Verizon network for $35/mo each with 5GB data each.
