Just a suggestion but maybe you can use him for the more detail oriented work (like finish carpentry) and hire out the grunt, less skilled work (like demo and rough in framing) to a younger, cheaper contractor.

I ask because I considered attending some of their meetings (I'm in Rhode Island too) but it seemed oriented toward property management companies with lots of units under management, like your office.My searches for the RIAA did bring up the "Providence Apartment Association" http://providenceapartmentassociation.com/ - I attended their last meeting and do recommend them though I think they only meet yearly.
