A vacant inherited house, by itself, is a sleepy list unless you are sufficiently skilled to isolate and stimulate their pain.You need better lists which target people with big, in-their-face problems. 

Making that type of trade of my time and control (and sleep) is just not an option for me.

At the same time we have zoning rules in most of the city that are consistent with a sleepy coastal town (40' height limits, potential preservation of every 50+ year old building).
