Maybe it wound up "growing" something in the sump, any way.My question is:Do you think it would damage anything if I dumped a couple gallons of distilled white vinegar down there to see if it would loosen / dissolve the scum?

@Conrad Metzenberg,I think you're going to see values remain high and either trail off in some places as supply slowly increases, or possibly surge if lending is loosened and pent up demand is released.If any of the dire sooth being said about the dollar comes about, all bets are off.
