Of course you should have a key to the unit and rekey it ASAP.

When a tenant moves out I rekey the lock and give the new tenant the rekeyed apartment key.

I can change a sink cartridge, lock or a electrical fixture in a few minutes, a plumber, locksmith or electrician wouldn't walk in the door for less than $100, probably much more.

A good heating/cooling repair/installation service, plumber, locksmith, electrician, and carpenter/handyman can save you a lot of grief.For the furnace, planning to replace, check with the local utility company about when they have rebate programs. 

Could she gain access to the property that way even if she had to get a locksmith to get in?
