kid ate paint chips for a few months.. and it unfortunatly caused their death.. its an issue.. and I would be cautious / risk adverse personally.. but then again i don't rent houses..

IF she really wants out of where she is, get the family to chip in together to take care of her. 

Sometimes the "blue chip" stocks work better long run then the high flyers. 

For example, If a property's acquisition cost is 70K and I chip in 35K and this gentleman (maybe his business partners as well) put in rest of acquisition cost and  all renovation cost.

But, we have thought of cashing in our LA RE chips and moving somewhere less expensive.

I'd imagine all personal savings would have to chip in as well, but the timeline is still daunting.

Account Closed get a great local inspector and make sure he/she checks out all the major systems as opposed to wasting time looking at paint chips and door hardware. 

I always make sure the paint is not peeling or chipping (which I would do anyway).

There is also lead paint, which is not necessarily a concern, but I was always telling our manager to be on the lookout for any chipping or flaking. 

Use top quality materials, you want this to last a long time.If the spawling is bad, chip off all the loose and soft parts and fill the voids with concrete, then skim coat the entire outside.
