.- Lived in it for a year, then moved out to rent elsewhere (where I currently live).- Rent was $1,750/month, but the mortgage was $1,900/month, plus an HOA fee of $360/month.- This meant I was out of pocket $510 each month.Fire Incident:- In November 2022, a fire in the unit above caused water damage to my unit.

The state is Florida.I did not consider this first mortgage an issue because I was simply going to live rent and mortgage free in this property myself, rent bedrooms, make good money and recoup my investment in short time (netting 4k income per month if you count not having to pay my current rent).

I would recommend Mike right now, as he is battling liver cancer and could use any new business possible to help him out with his expenses.  

@Michael SunHi Michael, I'm a CA transplant that is now invested in the Reno / Tahoe market.

Things are a bit pricey right now, however, there will always be an influx of snowbirds and transplants. 

Stay with me.....Say I get a place that allows me to live rent free for the year I stay there or best case scenario put a few hundred bucks in my pocket and turn a Profit.

Or US Transplants who own the property or investment properties have Earthquake insurance?

I would also add that it may seem expensive in CLT area from your point of view but for many of our new transplants it is much more affordable.

I can understand why someone from Colorado might think like Scott, but as Californian who found herself transplanted to the South for more than thirty years, living in five states, I have to agree with Peter.
