There are now quotas in most fisheries and my brothers, like you, are often out of work, or nearly so, after 4 - 6 months.Rather than give-up that job, you can always find another for the offseason ... perhaps that would be in real-estate ... start out partnering up with more seasoned investors - your labour and boots on the ground and their experience and capital - for a small piece of the action and before you know it, you're ready/able to take the lead on your own deals (once you have a track record, finding partners won't be terribly hard).
