That's not my market, but it seems like excellent news to me - regulations like that encourage responsible ownership/management without severely handicapping the industry, and in my opinion creates a safer environment in which to operate a business without fearing that super-strict regulations could swoop in at any moment.

@Michael Jones re your example of the wheel chair ... in California, the landlord is required to accept people with any handicap, but the tenant is required to pay for any necessary modifications, e.g., wheelchair ramp.

The office unit is currently 1700 sq ft of built out medical office space.  5 exam rooms, all with sinks and cabinets, two nursing stations, with sinks and cabinets, waiting room, administrative/check in area, large provider's office, large handicapped bathroom, handicapped ramp, plus a very large room with half bath on the second floor, that could be used as administrative space, or office space or staff break room.

I just read an article, which is not in English so I am not sharing, that the Parliament in Portugal mandated that landlords cannot evict elderly (65+) and/or handicapped  if they'd been renting the same dwelling for 15 years or more.
