I use the Samsung SmartThings hub and it allows me to add and remove guests anytime as well as lock and unlock, monitor battery health, look at logs etc etc.Plus the lock itself is looking great after 7 years in Idaho weather and it is in full sun for at least 6 hours a day.

It attracts a different guest.  

@Marc Shin, Soundproofing is definitely something worth tackling for a short-term rental—it’ll keep your guests happy and help you avoid complaints.

The lower unit is a basement/guest suite.

I have studied things and I feel I would only make maybe an extra grand a year and frankly I don't want to squeeze every last time out of people coming for vacation.Most of our guests are regular people.

They've also said that you'll need to show something to prove that you've had at least one 2+ day guest stay in the last 6 months (to be grandfathered in), and recently have assured that your permit will be transferable should you sell the home.

Granted there is a cost in hiring an agent, Having someone analyze each deal with localized knowledge is worth its weight in gold.
