My wife is our bookkeeper and we are very busy for people still in their 20s.

I am going crazy trying to figure out the best way to get started with bookkeeping.

Can anyone give me alternatives to QuickBooks for bookkeeping / running an apartment complex?

As we are growing, we realize we need to have a better accounting/bookkeeping system then the one we started out with (an excel sheet). 

A book keeper, A CPA, somebody to call maintenance people, a lawyer does the evictions, somebody else does the screening, etc etc.

I use a separate account for each property and it makes book keeping/accounting easier.The comment above about buying in bulk is no problem.

Again, a good attorney and accountant or bookkeeper will be helpful here. 

Good for collecting rent and has some other functionality, but you're still probably going to be mixing spreadsheets and cozy for bookkeeping and maintenance management.
