Highly unlikely that you will get a dealer license so you have to find an outlet for resales. 

Everyone prefers overhead lighting than plugging a lamp into an outlet and stumbling over there to turn it on or off.

If you want less maintenance then new appliances, fixtures and outlets reduces maintenace.

As @Will Fraser, short term investments can be a good investment, but unless the town is a hidden gem, soon to be revealed through social media outlets and "Top 10 Places to Visit", then I would look elsewhere.

You ask them to inspect the electrical system, but not the outlets and switches?

I'd try the Handyman's Candystore (AKA Building Materials Outlet). 

I wonder if they make a locking cage that you can put on the outlet.

Check your area for outlets that may have some less than perfect furniture. 

There is also a outlet mall and casino in town, but both of them seem to struggle compared to other similar facilities across Chicagoland and nearby SW Michigan.
