You can read and see which markets are expected to have further decline (I believe there was a story like that on AOL a couple weeks ago).Additionally, you will need to review economic and population indicators that demonstrate a potential for strong growth within whatever time frame you are desiring to do your deal from beginning to end.Unemployment rates, projected population growth, standard of living, what % of the population in that area can afford the price home you are wanting to build, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.The questions go on and on.Once you pick your location in the US - I'd recommend getting with a competent REALTOR in that area.And just because you asked for a place specifically, if you are looking for CURRENT "hot" markets, Austin TX seems to be pretty popular based off the reports/data I've read.Good luck.
