I went through it anyway bc she had a good footprint online, I liked the designs, and a couple of ppl at another STR group recommended her (not an excuse, I was super busy and thought I was dealing with a professional).

I'm also not super optimistic on rents increasing over the next year or two though, especially if we go into a recession.

So now I am 25 and I was finally presented with an opportunity (duplexes are super rare in my area/state btw) I put an offer in and it's looking like it's gonna be accepted!!

The rental had ratty furniture, a record player prominently featured in the marketing but it had no speakers, missing basics items in the kitchen, lots of drunks in the concrete hallways that reverberated right into the bedroom at 2am, a strong odor of urine outside, and more.We have super hosts in this forum that have hundreds of 5-star reviews and are masters of the craft, but I look at their rentals and see they don't have any artwork on the walls, decor is basic, they do nothing to make the guest feel welcome, etc. 

But she is super happy loves work has great kids ( now granted they are 15 and 18 ) so easier for her to do this now.

Hotels and hospitality are a super interesting sector to me.

I would be buying into a sellers market in almost any Albertan city.Alberta also worries me as it is known to be super volatile for short periods of time and then sit dormant for up to a decade. 

I think that is very reasonable move for matured owners like you but I don’t think it benefits most new hosts who should really focus on the ranking over expanding their market.Also I have 1000+ reviews as a super host on Airbnb and I work in a very similar role as a senior resolution case manager.

Looks super promising for those staying up late on FB a few nights a week.
