Second, when it does become mandatory, we hope to be not compliant with the program as we currently rent units for no less than 24 month periods.

This is exactly why we don't like the Self help program as the owner builder will always under bid the job to keep the loan amount lower. 

I was looking into this program a bit and was just wondering if anyone else used this program to get started in real estate investing and also why isn't this program being talked about more? 

I'll update throughout the process to hopefully give more insight into this program as I know first hand information from a buyer perspective is extremely limited.
