Here's my quick brainstormHow I would find a mentor:1)Attending a local real estate clubs2)Attend real estate investment focused educational classes (not get rich quick road shows)3) Look up and research real estate records, news articles etc. of local real estate investors4) Work for a real estate office/broker/agent who invests or works with investors5) Join & volunteer at social service organizations, charities etc that known investors in the area belong.

Hi Bpers, hope we're all safe amidst Covid-19.This is really a rant as while I understand that landlords including myself are running a business and not a charity, I feel frustrated based on my current situation.So, college has stopped in person classes for the rest of the semester.

Instead of donating hundreds or thousands of dollars to charity or keeping for their families, many landlords are literally choosing to donate the rent to their tenants. 

In the past, when I had a tenant that could not pay, I gave them the number to a charity that could help.  

You are using your emotions and offering charity. 

I have total respect for these two individuals.And I know many could not afford this form of charity but I think those that can this just shows that Americans  can and will Rally especially now with our health professionals on the front lines.. 

Otherwise, if you just want deductions, perhaps invest in a bad deal or, etter yet, do something good and donate a bunch of money to charity.

I am also very involved with a local charity and have a long-term goal of providing an endowment so the charity's work can continue long into the future.
