Check to see if there are scraps under the fridge, near or under the stove.

That means working plumbing, heat, pest-free, working stove, etc.  

New kitchen (big box store inexpensive white cabinets, Formica counters, new stainless DW and stove, LVT floor), new bathroom ($160 white steel tub, $60 tile, $60 vanity, $15 light bar, $100 toilet, LVT floor) Refinished hardwood in the entire house, fresh paint, all new light fixtures/outlets/switches, new windows, Fresh painted front porch, new deck boards/railings on tiny back deck etc etc..

It was in bad shape and the stove was really gross. 

For my C-class I'm more likely to state in my lease: "a fridge and stove are provided however upkeep and repairs are the responsibility of the tenant." 

I had to put around $5k in junk removal and repairs (wall, gutters, electrical, stove...), while also putting a lot of sweat into it myself (cleaning, painting, caulking, minor repairs I knew how to do).

@Zazenski Garrison I have had this happen with a stove and refrigerator.

I assume they have an electric stove and possibly a microwave so nobody's going to starve to death in 48 hours.

Most appliances are a few years old, (new stove as of Dec) We also owe aprox $18K on our solar system.
