I'm an Austin native and currently living in San Antonio & have been here for about 4 years now - the growth here is rapid these days (just announced 2nd largest growing city in the nation). 

When I see something announced for sheriff / tax in the local papers I dig in deep to find the owners info.

Then Nov. 9th of 2010 there was full staff meeting at the company I worked for and they announced they were making cuts and laying people off starting that day.

Interesting...I wonder if it's a location thing...My wife and I were talking about this the other day (when the USPS announced a $5B loss) and I pointed out that in 20+ years of sending/receiving mail, I can only think of one time (that I know of) where something didn't make it or ultimately get returned.But again, there could be lots of factors that have generated different experiences between us...
